Scott Weiland, former Stone Temple Pilots singer, dies

The former frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland, has died, aged 48.

His manager Tom Vitorino confirmed the singer's passing on Thursday night, stating that he "passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts".

Reports are that Weiland's body was discovered on his tour bus outside a motel, near the venue where the band were due to play.

While Weiland struggles with substance abuse had been well documented, nothing yet has been stated as a possible cause of death.
