She Drew The Gun - 'Revolution Of Mind'

7/10

Since of the release of their heralded debut album 'Memories Of Another Future' back in 2016, She Drew The Gun have been circling the peripheries of the British music scene. Like a hawk getting ready to strike, the buzz surrounding the band has been a steady rise, thanks to numerous live shows and support over the years. But now the band are set for their second studio album 'Revolution Of Mind', and look to make even more of an impact with a strong and confident sophomore release.

Taking cues from bands like The Kills and Warpaint, 'Revolution Of Mind' is a gritty and grizzly indie-rock thumper that looks to highlight the group's ear-grabbing sound as much as frontwoman Louisa Roach's subdued lyrics. Opening up with the wonderfully fuzzy 'Resister', the album embarks into two continuing states. One of a DIY-esque outfit looking for hard riffs and thunderous approach, while the other focuses more on the lyrical content of Roach's songwriting, stripping back from time to time and allowing her presence to really shine through.

It may not sound like these two premises can coexist, but She Drew The Gun pull it off confidently and deliver a brilliantly diverse and eclectic full-length in the process. They may have only managed a cult following so far, but this new release will surely bring them the attention they so sorely deserve.
