Sick Love - 'Champagne'

8/10

Ever since they first broke through with their incredible debut single 'Are You Ready' back in 2018, fast-rising outfit Sick Love have always looked to create a more anthemic sound than most. While they draw influences from the likes of Paramore, Blondie, No Doubt, Hole and Garbage, their direction has been far heavier than many in the pop-rock field, earning them countless praise and acclaim as a result. And after a flurry of highly-regarded releases over the years since, they now deliver their long-awaited debut album 'Champagne', a record that pushes those euphoric tendencies to the forefront.

While much of this new full-length was released as singles over the past year, hearing 'Champagne' all under one roof really heightens the explosive journey they have been on in recent months. With each track looking to erupt with more vibrant and cacophonous energy than the one before it, Sick Love continue to establish their place as one of the more exciting names on the rise here. Brimming with this immersive approach to their songwriting, which balances killer choruses and thunderous riffs throughout, they have never sounded so good across their expansive tenure to date.

While the sound of Sick Love has certainly been well-received over the years, 'Champagne' is the culmination of some of their most infectious anthems so far. Delivering some brilliantly blistering grooves at every turn, this is certainly one release we are going to be coming back to again and again in the months ahead.
