Simian Mobile Disco - 'Anthology: 10 Years Of SMD'

8/10

This certainly has been a year of reflection for Simian Mobile Disco. After reissuing their brilliant debut album 'Attack, Sustain, Decay, Release' with b-sides and rarities to mark its tenth anniversary earlier this year, the pair have also brought together a collection of their greatest work over the last decade into one retrospective release, highlighting exactly how revolutionary they have been these past years.

Bringing together a whole host of their most memorable material (although strangely leaving out their 2009 single 'Audacity Of Huge'), the production duo of James Ford and Jas Shaw aim to project the work that they feel most proud of over their career so far. Not really messing around with the chronology of the tracklist, 'Anthology: 10 Years Of SMD' has the goal of displaying the pair's evolution over the past five albums, and does so with glorious aplomb.

While fans of the duo won't find any surprises on here, it does serve as a wonderful reminder at just how proficient these two have been over the years. A must-listen for the fair-weather fan and perfect stocking-filler for those that love them.
