SOPHIE - 'Product'

8/10

It's not an album or an EP, simply a product (or collection of singles) from one of the world's most revered and misunderstood new producers. While the identity, and even gender, of SOPHIE has been a mystery for years, the producer has certainly been able to create a lasting impact on those that have heard his/her/its music. And now we finally have all the material in one places, what is there left to see about this unique beatmaker?

If you are one of those people that bought into 'Lemonade' when it first came out, then you will undoubtedly enjoy this new release. Filled with that squirrel-like vocal and over glossed pop dynamic, 'Product' is quite simply one of the most bonkers releases of the year. Eight tracks of pure bubblegum pop with an irreverent and self-deprecating awareness, SOPHIE has certainly made it their mission to alienate the listener as much as possible.

While it may not be for the mild-mannered music fan, it is certainly something you'll want to hear again. Like licking a battery, it is something you'll want to experience again even if you didn't fully enjoy the first time round and you'll probably soon be in love with it as much as we are.
