With his eagerly-awaited debut album landing in the coming weeks, Thomas Powers has now dropped the next cut to be lifted from his forthcoming full-length.
The new single 'Empty Voices' sees him team up with Julien Baker for the release, and follows on from the previously shared efforts 'Li', 'Falling Down The Stairs', 'Half Pirouette', Sleep And/Or Rest' and 'An Opening' in previewing his first LP 'A Tyrant Crying In Private', which is out on the 21st May.
Speaking about the new offering, he said, “It's an expression of fatigue and indignation, being on the receiving end of a heated, anonymous digital altercation. At the same time, it's easy to act hypocritically and become a participant in an exchange that leaves everyone feeling despondent.
“Social media encourages impulsivity and rewards volatility: if it enrages, it engages. But often, the voices worth listening to are not the loudest - they are careful, measured, and contemplative.”
