Washing Machina - 'The Spontaneous Splendid'

8/10

Over these last few years, Swedish outfit Washing Machina have been quick to cement themselves as one of the more proficient and explorative names on the underground indie-rock scene. Turning out a wealth dazzling releases every few months, they have grown from humble origins into one of the more exciting bands on the rise today. And with the buzz behind them continuing to build, they have returned with their long-awaited debut album 'The Spontaneous Splendid', a record that continues those euphoric textures throughout.

Brimming with all the same vibrant majesty they have been cultivating of late, 'The Spontaneous Splendid' sets itself as a beautifully warm and endearing listen. Creating this subtle mix of grizzled atmospheres and a more alluring presence from start to finish, this new ten-track collection takes us on a journey into the deepest depths of their dynamic sound, venturing into broader and more immersive tendencies as it goes.

These last few years have certainly been a great exercise in self-discovery and innovation for them, but 'The Spontaneous Splendid' proves that they are still very much on top of their creative game. With this rich and tantalising approach to their songwriting and production throughout, Washing Machina look set to grow even faster in the months ahead as well.
