You Say Party - 'You Say Party'

6/10

Having broken up in 2011 just to reform the following year, the band formerly known as You Say Party We Say Die seem to have left their rambunctious selves firmly in the past as the new line-up look to create a different sound from their previous incarnations.

With it being the band's first full-length release in almost seven years, 'You Say Party' might as well be a whole new beginning for the group. This new direction of long, strung out productions mixed with atmospheric soundscapes is a similar reinvention we saw from The Horrors some years ago. This new self-titled releases aims to be the start of something different that leaves their previous material in the dust.

While it is pleasant enough, it does have trouble finding its feet from time to time, unsure of where to take itself next. But in all, it is a confident release from a group that we had thought we had seen the last of.
