Yuck - 'Stranger Things'

7/10

Having had a history filled with turmoil and uncertainty throughout their fairly short career so far, Yuck have still managed to keep it (and themselves) together for another studio album. Following on from 2013's 'Glow & Behold', their latest release 'Stranger Things' seems to be business as usual for the four-piece as their fuzzy rock sound returns with gusto and aplomb.

From the start, 'Stranger Things' seems no different from their last album, or their self-titled debut for that matter. Distorted guitars and a rapturous pace introduce you once again to that signature sound that once flooded a generation of bands in the noughties. But to keep themselves fresh, Yuck have allowed their direction to breathe a little more on this new material. Slowing right down for ballady tracks such as 'Like A Moth', the record seems to show a band that finally has more time to think about music than their personal affairs.

While it still remains that same old band, there is this renewed sense of relief on this album. They seem genuinely relaxed within their songwriting and makes for a pleasant experience all round. It seems that chaos suites their methods to a tee.
