What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

All: The first instrument that we all fell in love with was the guitar. It’s just such a versatile instrument. Whether it’s acoustic or electric, clean or heavy, rhythm or lead, the guitar is an amazing tool for expressing yourself as an artist.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Trey: When I was a kid, I listened to gospel music a lot: I didn’t really have much of a choice haha. But I also listened to some pop like NSYNC and the Black Eyed Peas.

Will: I always loved rock and music that kept me energized. Pretty much anything that’s loud. I loved Muse and Queen.

Collin: My dad was blasting rock music in his car for me ever since I was two. He would play music by grunge bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. The Red Hot Chili Peppers was another big one too. Those songs pretty much became ingrained in my brain and I’ve been hooked ever since.

What was the first album you remember owning?

Trey: 'No Strings Attached' by NSYNC.

Will: 'Night Visions' by Imagine Dragons.

Collin: 'Nevermind' by Nirvana.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

'Lately' by Stevie Wonder.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Before we begin writing a song, we usually listen to music that is in the same genre as the song we are creating. We study elements from our favourite tracks and then see how we can incorporate those into something that is our own. Another thing we do is writing based off of our mood or the weather. Sometimes natural inspiration produces our best ideas.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

-Joji
-Charlie Puth
-Nothing But Thieves
-Billie Eilish
-Leslie Odom Jr.
-Post Malone

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Billie Eilish.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

The most rewarding part about being a musician is having the ability to create sounds and melodies that capture who we are and how we feel and then getting to hear the finished product. We love getting to finally show a completed song off to the world and seeing how it impacts and inspires others. Once we release a song, it’s there forever and serves as a piece of our legacy.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Being a musician is so expensive. You have to buy instruments, recording gear, camera equipment-- the list goes on. On top of that, you have put money into high quality production, marketing, and advertising. While the costs are worth it, it’s very hard to get a return on these investments unless you make it.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

You have to be prepared for anything and everything. The music industry is never smooth sailing. There’s amazing high points and terrible low points but no matter what, you have to keep pushing through all of it to be successful.
