Getting To Know... Manta

After the enormous response to his recently unveiled single 'Clementine' in recent months, fast-rising artist Manta is back once again to deliver his breezy new effort 'Poly'.

Capturing another heady dose of warm and inviting alt-pop aesthetics throughout, 'Poly' makes for an incredibly rich and passionate listen. With his light and dreamlike vocals riding across a shimmering production from start to finish, he is certainly looking to lure us in with this mesmerising new delight.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him lately.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I first fell in love with playing guitar after watching a Noel Gallagher concert aha I just wanted to be in a band and rip off Oasis aha.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

My Dad would always play Indie or rock music in the car when I was a kid so I kind of fell in love with that. I remember listening to the RedHot Chilli Peppers on repeat and singing There she goes by the Las.

What was the first album you remember owning?

First album I ever got was a JLS album after they won the X factor hahaha. No shame though they still have some bangers on that first album.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?


It has to be Something by The Beatles I think its probably the best written song ever the lyrics and the key change geniusssss.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Not really whatever happens happens but if I had to say just cig breaks aha.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I'm listening to a guy called Sfven a lot at the moment I think he’s so good and I feel really lucky I’ve had the chance to be in the studio with him recently.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Justin Bieber ahah I think it would be well cool aha.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Probably writing something you feel genuinely attached to and the song can sum up exactly how you feel in that moment and for someone else to relate to it is a great feeling.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Interviews like this haha. Nahhhh but honestly id say TikTok and socials its just a bit draining having to play the numbers game.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Stop caring about what others think and just do you.
