Getting To Know... Sarah Krimson

Having already cemented herself with a breadth of rich and immersive offerings these last few years, London-based artist Sarah Krimson has returned once again to deliver her mesmerising new EP 'Urban Melancholia'.

Channelling a wonderfully broad and inventive alt-pop aesthetic from start to finish, this new six-track collection makes for an incredibly dense and atmospheric listen. With her bold and shimmering vocals layered across a pulsing production throughout, she is continuing to cement herself as one of the more innovative names on the rise right now.

So with the new EP available to stream now, we sat down with her to find out more about her origins and what has been inspiring her of late.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Guitar. I have plenty of guitarists in my family and I grew up around people playing guitars at every family gathering, so it was an easy choice.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Everything Rock, Metal, Punk, Post Punk, you name it. It all started with discovering Back in Black by AC/DC while reading a book.

What was the first album you remember owning?

It was either Suck It and See or Humbug by Arctic Monkeys, I own both but I don’t remember which one was the first one I bought.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

1121 by Halsey

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Not particularly.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Halsey, Fleetwood Mac, MARINA, Placebo, Lana Del Rey.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Probably Halsey, I love her.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Knowing that out there there are people who relate to your music.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Probably having to compromise from time to time.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Be authentic and people will resonate eventually.
