Following on from the rousing response to their much-loved debut EP 'Fly Over Apple Blossom' last year, London-based outfit First Day Of Spring have now returned to share their brand new single 'You're Blue I'm Blue'.
Bringing back more of that warm and immersive indie-rock aesthetic they have quickly earned a reputation for, 'You're Blue I'm Blue' makes for a beautifully rich and alluring listen. With its shimmering textures, soaring atmosphere, and stellar vocals layered throughout, they return to the fold with one of their most impactful efforts to date.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them most recently.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Drums. mainly because it got me out of half of my maths lessons to learn at my senior school. My teacher was not a savoury gentleman.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Hip Hop was probably my first love, that was probably the main reasoning behind taking up drumming at age 11.
What was the first album you remember owning?
It wasn’t an album but i went on a school trip to a place called ilam hall when i was about 10 and my saintly mother Brigette bought one of those Walkman portable cd players and I bought Feelgood Inc. by Gorillaz as a single from Woolworths for 2 quid to play on that. I think in hindsight i was ill-prepared given it was a 3-hour bus journey.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
There are many. Off the top of my head Tecumseh Valley by Townes Van Zandt.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
I don’t ‘try’ when writing music. When it happens it happens. It’s like fishing, just waiting around until you get a hook somewhere. I’ve actually tried NOT to write music before to get into a habit of not being rushed but it tends to just happen.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
I’m back into The Clean again and i’ve been listening to some quieter bits also like Karen Beth and Mark Fry. I love that period of late sixties early 70’s psych folk stuff and the sounds of the engineers behind the making of the records.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
I’m not much of a Fat Whites super fan but i think the guy from their group Saul is the most recent genial guy kicking around in London so maybe before he plays somewhere. Maybe i could give him a rub down after the show at least.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
The work, probably most specifically being in the studio recording.
And what is the most frustrating part?
Earning f- all money.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Don’t follow leaders and watch the parking meters.
