What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Chels - Piano! My grandma got me my first keyboard at 5 years old and my parents put me in lessons at the age of 6. I study piano in grad school now.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Chels - I didn’t start liking music until middle school when I stopped listening to whatever my family listened to. I heard The Strokes first and have loved them for years. I stuck to indie/alternative music for years.

What was the first album you remember owning?

Nic - Queen - Night at the Opera

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Nic - Bohemian Rhapsody

Hammy - Nights in White Satin or Veteran of the Psychic Wars maybe, or Astronomy.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Nic - Typically I just try to empty my mind and let things come together organically. If I let something build up for too long, I can get burnt out on it before ever recording it.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Hammy - Lana Del Rey, Ashnikko, Ayesha Erotica, Joey Valence & Brae. All artists most people wouldn’t expect me to listen to given I’m a die-hard metalhead.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Nic - Queen. They are obviously older now but they still sell out arenas, so that’d be an honor to open up for them. They’re my favorite band of all time.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Hammy - Writing music. That and seeing people’s reactions to you performing. The audience really makes a difference on whether or not you’re going to have a fun show.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Hammy - Loading in and out.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Colten - Don’t chase the numbers, focus on the music.
