Irish four-piece Florence Road have officially arrived with their debut single 'Heavy', a bold and emotionally charged statement that introduces the band’s undeniable chemistry and raw energy.
Written during their first trip to Los Angeles, 'Heavy' is a propulsive, guitar-driven anthem that showcases frontwoman Lily Aron’s sharp lyricism and unfiltered honesty. Inspired by a tumultuous period in Aron’s life, the track seethes with frustration, wrapped in an infectious melody and soaring instrumentation. The band has also shared a live performance video, directed by Owen Kasparian and shot in Ireland, capturing their dynamic presence.
Hailing from Wicklow, Ireland, Florence Road is made up of Lily Aron (vocals), Emma Brandon (guitar), Ailbhe Barry (bass), and Hannah Kelly (drums)—childhood friends who spent their teenage years honing their craft in Aron’s garden shed. Their sound blends influences from The Cranberries and Fleetwood Mac with the modern grit of Wolf Alice and Phoebe Bridgers.
Despite having no official releases until now, Florence Road has already built a loyal following, earning early co-signs from Olivia Rodrigo and beabadoobee. With 'Heavy' marking the first of many releases to come, Florence Road is on track to become one of the defining bands of their generation.
