Over these last few years, US singer-songwriter Chris Bullinger has been one of the more intriguing names on the blues-rock revivalist scene. With a tenacious approach to his direction that looks to borrow from the nostalgic areas of the sound as much as a more contemporary vibe, his tenure to date has been this wildly explorative one that always manages to unearth something new and fresh to explore. And after the rapturous response to last year's 'Waitin’ To Be Seen Part 1', he is now back once again to offer up its sequel, continuing that warm and immersive aesthetic he is known for.
Bringing back of the smooth and heartfelt textures of its predecessor, 'Waitin’ To Be Seen Part 2' is a wonderfully rich and tender continuation of his aesthetic of late. Very much akin to that lofty blues flow he has always looked to conjure, his newest outing finds him in a more refined guise, opting for both soulful ballads and toe-tapping rhythms in equal measure. Whether he is looking to serenade us with the likes of 'Meet You Down The Line' or deliver a more jubilant appeal with 'Better Half', Chris Bullinger is always one step ahead of his peers when it come to a progressive approach to songwriting.
It has certainly been a busy and productive time for him recently, but 'Waitin’ To Be Seen Part 2' shows there is still plenty of innovative spirit coursing through him right now. Brimming with warmth and flair as often as possible, he remains a stalwart figure and captivating bluesman with every new cut.
