Djo—the psychedelic-leaning musical project of Joe Keery—returns with 'Potion', the final preview before the release of his much-anticipated new album 'The Crux', arriving this Friday 4th April via AWAL.
Swapping synth-heavy production for something breezier and acoustic, 'Potion' offers a strikingly different mood from previously released singles 'Basic Being Basic' (which earned a BBC Radio 1 playlist spot) and 'Delete Ya' (named Hottest Record in the World by the station). With fingerpicked guitar and dreamy falsetto, the track channels Laurel Canyon-era folk-pop, drawing inspiration from songwriting greats.
“‘Potion’ is like your favorite pair of blue jeans,” Keery explains. “I’d been working on Travis picking when I wrote this song, so it’s kind of like if Harry Nilsson and Lindsey Buckingham had a baby.”
