Kuda - 'Blue'

7/10

Over these last few years, US rapper Kuda has established himself as one of the more innovative names on the rise. Turning out a flurry of broad and enigmatic delights in recent times, his sound has been seen as a fresh and inventive pursuit that always looks to push the boundaries of his aesthetic as far as it will go. And after another vibrant run throughout the previous months, he is back once again to cement his legacy to date with his progressive debut EP 'Blue', a release that beams with adventurous ideas throughout.

Keeping very much akin to his enigmatic style of the last few years, 'Blue' comes across as a brilliantly broad and immersive listen. With his rich and emotive flow bouncing across a woozy production across all of its five tracks, he is making light work of this vibrant new offering. Moving with this elegant atmosphere from start to finish, Kuda finds himself in a wonderfully refreshing guise as he looks to explore some of his more effervescent textures to date.

His catalogue may have only just gotten underway, but 'Blue' feels like an artist ready to conquer the next phase within his musical evolution. Cultivating some brilliantly riveting tones as often as possible, Kuda is certainly a name to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
