As pop music continues its adventure to become even more experimental throughout 2016, UK-via-Iceland trio Dream Wife seem to found the pinnacle of where left-of-centre commercial music can go.
With an appropriate list of influences including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Le Tigre and Peaches, their latest release 'EP01' manages to combine a classic pop sound with an almost avant-garde appeal. With frontwoman Rakel Mjöll managing to sound like the lovechild of Bjork and Jarvis Cocker, the three-piece have created a sound that is both enticing and engaging.
And while their EP has been available since March, the attention the girls have received in the last few weeks just shows that interest behind them is growing exceptionally strong, and will no doubt see them emerge as one of the best new acts by the end of the year.
