Claire Rosinkranz - 'Just Because'

7/10

Ever since she first emerged, teenage pop newcomer Claire Rosinkranz has always looked to project a particular sound. Blending bright and uplifting sunshine pop with a more woozy and self-reflective ambition, she has created this wonderfully juxtaposed direction that feels light and bubbly, but occasionally slips into more darker territory within its lyrics. And with that being her core aesthetic over the years, she now looks to push it as far as it will go across her eagerly-awaited debut album 'Just Because', a record brimming with vibrant textures throughout.

While these last few months have already been littered with offcuts from this new collection, hearing 'Just Because' in its entirety certainly fits with the expectations we have created for her. Although plenty of the offerings on this new full-length like to explore a sweet and sugary production, there are still plenty of moments where she unveils some of her more innovative ideas, creating a familiar sounding release that still manages to offer up the occasional surprise when you least expect it.

Claire Rosinkranz has certainly developed a distinctive persona for herself, and 'Just Because' stands as a confident and assured exploration of those ideas. It may not have much in the way of killer standout singles, but still makes for a brilliantly bold and engaging listen from start to finish.
