Eric Schroeder - 'Turned On The Stereo'

8/10

Despite only emerging in 2020 with his breakthrough debut EP 'Country-Flavored Rolling Paper', San Diego-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and pop-rock polymath Eric Schroeder has been on an incredibly prolific run ever since. Turning out a wealth of immersive LP and EP releases as often as possible, his tenure to date has been bustling with a breadth of vibrant innovation wherever he goes. And after returning with some highly-praised efforts earlier this year, he continues his adventurous streak with his latest studio album 'Turned On The Stereo', a record that builds upon his dynamic direction throughout.

Known for his scrappy yet charming approach to production, 'Turned On The Stereo' continues that rustic aesthetic he has looked to conjure for every release. Using a wide and varied array of instrumentation to create his instantly recognisable vibe, which perfectly heightens his enigmatic songwriting from start to finish, his newest collection is this wonderfully fun and lively affair that always seeks to unearth something new and interesting for him to explore.

Things have certainly been busy for him these last few years, but 'Turned On The Stereo' shows he still has plenty of fresh and enjoyable ideas in which to incorporate into his captivating catalogue. With such an inviting swagger behind each of these ten tracks, there is more than enough for anyone to get stuck into here.
