8/10

Ever since they first emerged, Portsmouth-based project Fast Trains have always looked to develop this broad and alluring approach to the indie-rock sound. Blending these rich and euphoric textures with a driven take to songwriting and production, the Tow Wells-led endeavour has established itself with a wave of wondrous delights over the years, all looking to add something new and interesting to the venture. And after plenty of innovation and self-discovery under their belts, they now cement their dynamic legacy to date with their eagerly-awaited debut album 'Escape To Ourworld', a record that broadens this inventive ideals as often as possible.

Right from the very beginning, 'Escape To Ourworld' looks to present itself as a bright and euphoric delve into their most impactful material to date. Opening up with the truly anthemic 'Welcome To Ourworld', this ten-track collection seeks out the bolder and more immersive atmospheres with their aesthetic, and pushes them as far as they will go. Diving into a heady mix of psych-rock, Britpop and dream-pop inspirations as it plays, Fast Trains build upon their eclectic foundations of yesteryear with style and aplomb across this new LP.

It has certainly been a fun and exciting time for them lately, but 'Escape To Ourworld' is surely the highlight of their infectious repertoire to date. Brimming with this warm and passionate texture from start to finish, they are certainly ones to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
