Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes - 'Dark Rainbow'

7/10

Despite being one of the more notable names on the British alt-rock scene for the last two decades, Frank Carter's incarnation as The Rattlesnakes will probably go down as his most revered and acclaim guise to date. Throughout the last few years, The Rattlesnakes have been one of the more innovative and progressive names doing the rounds, all leading up to releasing their fifth full-length 'Dark Rainbow', a record that sees them take another vital step forward within their musical evolution so far.

While their sound has always looked to skirt the line between a grizzled underground aesthetic and more commercially acceptable angles, 'Dark Rainbow' feels like a release that toes this line even better, blurring it into a strong and cohesive listen throughout. Much like what the recently shared singles have leant into, this new offering sees the band in renewed and rejuvenated spirits as they embark on another broad and adventurous addition to their ever-growing catalogue.

Fans of the group will obviously adore it, but 'Dark Rainbow' also has plenty for the more casual fans to get their teeth into. A bold and diverse array of gems, they continue to shine and grow throughout this new release.
