What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Latin Jazz, Acid Jazz, Indian Classical, Bhangra, RnB, Soul.

What was the first album you remember owning?

My parents bought me a second hand record, it was called Disco Hustle, it featured Herbie Hancock, 10cc and Boney M to name a few.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

This is a very hard question to answer as most songs have a personal story that comes from the songwriter or the artist but It would have been nice to come up with the vocoder as in a Herbie Hanckock production, ‘Thought It Was You’. This sound is so cool and alien, very clever invention, basically a new instrument.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I try and start everything from fresh only plan what instruments, mostly in my case samplers and drum machines, I want to use depending on the sound I have in my head.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I have been listening to a lot of older stuff recently. Looking for inspiration and samples I have revisited my own vinyl record collection, NYC latin jazz, Brasil and Afrobeat from the 70’s and 80’s.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Ron Trent as he is a big influence for me, plus he seems like a very chilled, humble individual as well as an amazing artist.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Being able to travel and be part of an amazing community, meeting people and sharing knowledge and good times.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Having times when you are not sharing your music.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

I like this advice that Mr G posted on his Instagram page, “Surround yourself with energy that takes you up. Be around people who make you feel good. They’ll help you manifest what you want.”
