What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Never really learned or fell in love with a particular instrument. However my first love with something music making was the DAW Ableton. Using Ableton, I learned to manipulate sounds with sorts of different effects and that’s something I have a true passion for.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I loved all types of music when I was younger. As far as I could remember, the first music I liked was early 90s RnB, I remember listening to that when I was in the car seat of my moms car. And as I got older started getting into rap music.
What was the first album you remember owning?
The first CD I ever had was Crank That by Soulja Boy lol. The next 2 were I think Graduation by Kanye and Curtis by 50 cent.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
I wish I could have written Can’t Tell Me Nothin by Kanye West because that's my favourite verse he has ever wrote.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Not really to be honest, I actually love music spontaneously. Ideas spark in my head at the most random times and I just hum those ideas in my voice memo app. I actually don't stick to a strict routine because I find myself getting stagnant doing that.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
I have 2 artists that I’ve been listening to who are fairly newer to the game but I think are making a huge imprint and that is Teezo Touchdown and Sam Gellaitry. Teezo’s music is experimental and Sam’s music is too addicting.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
I could have to be Travis Scott just because I think he is one of the best performers of the generation and I feel like could learn so much from that experience.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
The most rewarding thing about being a musician to me is being able to bring those small ideas to life. I kind of like I create any world that I want to and live in it.
And what is the most frustrating part?
The most frustrating part of being a musician to me is the promotion and marketing aspect of it. I damn near think I was born in the wrong era because I feel like its less about that actual music and more about the personality behind the most or who's the most popular.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
I saw this video from Pharell saying to treat going into the studio like going to the library. Make sure you use your library card as much as possible because you never know what you're going to make at any time.
