What were the first instruments you fell in love with?

Probably piano and drums. I had piano lessons and a keyboard at home so loved playing with that. A friend had a drum kit too and I really fell for that.

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

Well there's so much that I've been into over the years but in recent times I'd say artists like Caribou and Bonobo. I love the use of synths, samples and breaks combined with great songwriting and singers.

What kind of music did you love as a teenager?

RHCP, Beastie Boys then Hip Hop, Funk and Jazz.

Can you remember the first song that made you want to pursue a life in music?

I don't remember the first song but I do remember getting the music bug in my teens where I was enjoying being introduced to new music and enjoying my own discovery. At the same time I started writing songs on guitar and piano and this is when I first remember feeling the pull to pursue music.

When you wake up in the morning, what kind of music do you like to listen to?

Nothing too manic! Probably just some chilled Electronica or something similar.

How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?

I don't really write lyrics much these days but I know Clara, who co-wrote the last 2 releases with me, mainly writes about personal experiences but in a way that they are relatable. So I guess they are loosely based on people but in a less direct way.

What have been the most memorable moments in your career so far?

I've been really lucky to perform lots with other bands and artists. San Sebastian Jazz Festival was a highlight last summer and played at Royal Albert Hall a few years back.

Outside of music, what is your biggest passion?

There are a few! Football, Formula 1, Travel, Food.

If you weren’t musicians, what other path do you think you might have taken?

I'm not sure at all but I might have tried to be a footballer or maybe an Architect.

And what advice would you give to other musicians looking to start a career in music?

Find your sound and study and practice lots. Try to connect with other musicians and like minded people.
