After delighting us with his mesmerising comeback single 'Little Bird' at the end of last year, fast-rising artist Mar Omin returns once again to offer up the breezy new effort 'When I'm Gone'.
Lifted from his forthcoming new album 'Extricate', which is set to arrive soon, 'When I'm Gone' makes for a wonderfully inviting listen. With his sweet and soaring voice layered across a dense yet atmospheric production throughout, he is certainly looking to conjure some beautifully alluring imagery here.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The Drums. I started playing drums when I was young.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I was really into hip-hop and neo soul from 16 till somewhere in my twenties. Dangelo, Tribe, Slum Village etc. When I was about 8 I was really into hardcore for some years.
What was the first album you remember owning?
A drums bass / jungle album by various artists. Loved it.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
I don’t think I think of music like that. I can really be into a song for a while. Have it on repeat, but I don’t think anything is me. The band ‘Inc.’ came close though. Loved their first album.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Not really. My inspiration can come from watching a movie. Sometimes I create early in the day, sometimes late at night. I do know I tend to feel more inspired when there’s head space for it. When I’m busy with campaigning, like now with my new single ‘When I’m Gone’, I’m not really in creating music mode.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
DJ Harrison, KD Simon, Jonah Aardekker, The Brothers Nylon are a couple artists that I have favoured on Spotify recently.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
James Blake
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Creating music, alone or with like minded people, and sharing it with others.
And what is the most frustrating part?
‘Feeling I need the industry to make enough money so I can live from it' part.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
“You can tell a whole story with one note” Oswald Kiemeneij.
