After spending the last 5 years in London dream-pop band BOYS and playing shows throughout the UK, Europe and America with the likes of Fake Laugh, Trudy & The Romance, and Lowly & Sasami, founding members Ross Pearce & Mike Stothard recently launched their new project Pizza Daddy and have just returned with their latest single 'Too Many Boyfriends'.
Taking on that familiar dream-pop sound they are known for, this new offering sees them embark on a more progressive and atmospheric direction. With its soft and breezy guitar hooks coupled with some light and soaring vocals, their newest delight is a rich and warming addition to their emerging catalogue, perfect for chilling in these summer days ahead.
So with their name beginning to rise, we sat down with Ross from the group to find out more about their earliest influences and what has inspired them over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
It would be the guitar or synth, both pivotal to the music we make.
What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?
It would have to be America. The culture and the bands that have come from there have influenced our music so much.
What kind of music did you love as a teenager?
I was into the big indie bands like The Strokes & Arctic Monkeys, as I got older I began to find new styles and genres of music which helped influence the music we make today.
Can you remember the first song that made you want to pursue a life in music?
It was after hearing a song called Lust For Life by a band called GIRLS. The melodies and the lyrics just connected with me. I ended up calling my first band BOYS.
When you wake up in the morning, what kind of music do you like to listen to?
It's normally one of the daily mix playlists on Spotify, there's been a lot of dream pop, lo-fi music on there. Bands like Surf Curse, Broncho, Big Thief.
How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?
I would say nearly all the songs we write are written with someone in mind. I feel when you're writing about someone or something close to you you're more connected to the song and it means more.
What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far?
It would be when my other band BOYS (we are on hiatus) played our first shows in the US, with America being such a big influence on our music it was always a dream to go over there and play music. We hope to go back as Pizza Daddy soon.
Outside of music, what is your biggest passion?
Outside of music I am big sports fan. I will watch and play any sport.
If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?
We all do music on the side of our full time jobs. I work in the sports coaching industry and its where I always wanted to work.
And what advice would you give to other musicians looking to stay productive through the coronavirus lockdown?
My advice would be to keep writing and engaging on social media and have everything ready and in place so you can get back to where you was before the coronavirus.
