Gurriers - 'Come And See'

8/10

Over these last few months, Irish quintet Gurriers have established themselves as one of the more impactful additions to the modern punk scene. Blending this heady mix of brooding post-punk aesthetics with a blistering approach to pace and momentum has given them this wildly enjoyable sound that always looks to add a thunderous presence to their growing place in the new music arena. And after plenty of praise and acclaim for their run of releases of late, they are now looking to cement their dynamic legacy to date with their pulsing debut album 'Come And See', a record that builds upon that already immersive appeal.

While much of this new LP arrived as individual singles over the last year, hearing 'Come And See' all at once really heightens the progressive intent they have been crafting since they first arrived. With this raw and driven production that adds a truly innovative approach to their sound with every new offering, the band's first full-length is this broad and grizzled introduction to their stellar style to date, something that really shines through amongst those tracks that have yet to see the light of day before this.

While their contemporaries like Fontaines DC and The Murder Capital often adopt a more brooding sensibility, Gurriers have made this album about power and gusto throughout. Offering up one anthemic offering after another, 'Come And See' marks one of the more instantly engaging debut releases we have heard all year.
