HONNE - 'OUCH'

7/10

Ever since they first arrived with their brilliant debut LP 'Warm On A Cold Night' in 2016, HONNE have always looked to project a more lofty appeal than many of their peers. Creating this beautifully rich and tantalising aesthetic across a wave of releases since, they have established themselves as one of the more innovative pairings the capital has produced this past decade. And after a string of notable collaborations in recent years, they are now back to what they do best with their fourth studio album 'OUCH', a record that looks to see out the summer in style.

Much like what they have earned a solid reputation for in recent years, 'OUCH' explores this heady mix of vibrant pop sensibilities with a more progressive approach to production. Looking to make the aesthetic of this release as fresh and spritely as possible, their newest outing continues much of that original allure they first emerged with. Honing their sound into this wonderfully sweet yet energetic identity, HONNE return to the fold with some of their most likeable efforts to date here.

While it may not be brimming with anthemic radio-friendly moments, 'OUCH' makes for this brilliantly absorbing listen, one that flows effortlessly from one shining delight to the next. Continuing to find and develop interesting ideas in which to pursue, HONNE are certainly looking to bring some joy into our lives with this one.
