MALIA - 'Back In My Body'

7/10

Over this past decade, LA-based artist MALIA has been seen as one of the more captivating names on the progressive R&B scene. Dabbling in a warm and alluring texture that perfectly suits her sweeping vocal performance, she has made a solid name for herself as a true innovator doing the rounds right now. And after rekindling much of that initial allure for her 2022 LP 'What's After 'I Love You?'', she is now back on the grind once again to deliver her sultry new studio album 'Back In My Body', a record that continues that adventurous spirit of hers.

Channelling a much more soulful edge this time around, 'Back In My Body' makes for a beautifully rich and passionate return for her. With her mesmerising vocal performance layered effortlessly across an immersive array of laid-back grooves, she is certainly looking to turn some heads with this shimmering new outing. Brimming with this emotive presence throughout her songwriting as well, we find MALIA in one of her more tender guises to date here.

She has certainly been making waves across the new music scene in recent years, but 'Back In My Body' proves she is still very much on top of her creative game right now. Offering up some of the more heartfelt efforts of her career, MALIA remains a strong staple within her progressive arena.
