Mortal Prophets - 'Sleeping In My Bed'

7/10

Near the end of last year, New York's Mortal Prophets released their much-loved studio album 'GUITARWORKS', a large instrumental offering that saw them broaden their immersive sound further than ever before. Their tenure to date has been a heady mix of textured and atmospheric delights, all wrapped up within the mind of bandleader John Beckmann. But after a surge of new material throughout this year already, they return once again with their dynamic new EP 'Sleeping In My Bed', a collection brimming with raw and tantalising concepts throughout.

Much like their prolific output these last few years, 'Sleeping In My Bed' channels more of that dark and progressive nature they have been exploring of late. Introducing a diverse blend of traditional instrumentation with a more forward-thinking approach to its sound and production, this new six-track collection has an incredibly alluring presence to it. Building upon their already encapsulating catalogue to date, they shine brighter than ever across this absorbing new release.

While things have certainly been extremely busy for Mortal Prophets recently, 'Sleeping In My Bed' shows that they still have plenty of fresh and captivating ideas in which to pursue. Exciting and passionate in equal measure, they continue their ascent as one of the more compelling names doing the rounds right now.
