The Naked Grace Missionaries - 'Glossolalia'

7/10

Over the last few years, London's The Naked Grace Missionaries have been quick to establish themselves as one of the more interesting names doing the rounds. Coupling rich and shimmering indie-folk aesthetics with lyrics inspired by The Manson Family and The Wicker Man has given the trio a brilliantly unique direction that has already made them one of the more talked-about names emerging from the capital right now. And with their buzz building faster by the day, they now release their debut EP 'Glossolalia', a collection that perfectly highlights their innovative ideals.

Despite the use of instrumentation and production left almost completely stripped back here, this new three-track offering certainly fills itself out with the band's bombastic performances and engaging personas. The opener 'Speaking In Tongues' has this widely unhinged approach to its sound, giving it an almost unpredictable quality, while 'All For Love' is a bright and galloping outing that adds another vital layer to their already immersive aesthetic to date.

While its brief runtime does leave us wanting more by its end, 'Glossolalia' still packs plenty of punch throughout its short yet enigmatic tenure. Creating some wonderfully rich and tantalising delights throughout this new release, they have kicked things off with a brilliantly broad and enjoyable listen here.
