Shaun Lewis - 'SL EP 2'

8/10

When The Wirral's Shaun Lewis released his breakthrough debut EP 'SL EP 1' in July of this year, it was instantly met as one of the more impactful releases in the indie-rock arena. Adopting this bold and tenacious attitude that looked to pack itself with as many killer hooks and rapturous riffs as possible, he quickly earned a reputation for an uncompromising approach to his distinctive direction. And with that outing still ringing in our ears, he is back once again to deliver his latest effort 'SL EP 2', a collection that looks to continue that ferocious energy he is cultivating right now.

While his initial offering was a fairly DIY-recorded endeavour, 'SL EP 2' feels a lot more polished in places, especially on its opening single 'Holding Up The World'. Exploding with these grizzled textures once again, he returns to the fold with all the same grit and gusto he managed to harness the first time around. Delivering a slightly more varied and diverse aesthetic this time around, he is still managing to conjure some brilliantly infectious grooves, all looking to build upon his dynamic legacy of late.

It may still be early days for him, but Shaun Lewis is clearly an artist will a firm vision in his mind as well as having the talent to back it up. Catchy and enjoyable from start to finish, 'SL EP 2' marks another shining progression in his brief but still anthemic tenure to date.
