Over the years, Wye Oak have become one of those bands that continue to put out great music but just don't quite get the attention they deserve. But having kept themselves everyone's favourite little secret for more than a decade now, the pair have returned with their sixth studio album 'The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs', and just like their work to date, continues on that strong path of experimental and irreverent dream-pop.
It is hard to imagine that there will come a time when Wye Oak are not able to deliver something special every time they return. Yet while their previous full-length 'Tween' was seen as more b-side record that had been repurposed as its own release, 'The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs' is a far more succinct and cohesive affair. Each track carries its own eccentricities that keep the record vibrant and interesting throughout, making for a wonderfully enjoyable listen.
I doubt we will ever see a day that Wye Oak finally break through to the mainstream, but none of us are really bothered by that so long as we still get more of this luxurious music. Even after six studio albums, the duo are more confident and resilient than ever. Love live Wye Oak.
