TT - 'Lovelaws'

7/10

With three incredible albums under their belt so far, the members of Warpaint have spent the last few years exploring their own ambitions through a number of side and solo projects. And now we are introduced to frontwoman Theresa Wayman's own solo guise TT, a concept that has allowed her to branch away from the sound and styles of her more familiar outfit and deliver something more experimental sonically.

Yet although this record has been an excuse for her to play around with new and diverse production ideas, it has also been a chance for her to spill her own personal story and struggles that may not ring as well if performed by a band. 'Lovelaws' tackles many issues that the singer has had to deal with while being a part of Warpaint, from loneliness to maintaining a relationship. The record continually brings her back as a person longing for a close relationship, but her situation as a musician makes it hard for her to keep hold of.

It is certainly a powerful and heartbreaking listen at times. Wayman has clearly seen this release as a way to vent her frustrations about her life and the result is a competent and well-produced record. Hopefully the first of many as 'Lovelaws' does seem like the beginning of a story we are sure will get better over time.
