In a newspaper interview with The Sydney Morning Herald last year, Damon Albarn announced that he would be "reactivating Gorillaz for a 2016 release” and it now seems that his co-founder of the project Jamie Hewlett is also on-board.
Hewlett, who heads up the illustration and design of Gorillaz, has been posting new designs of the animated group to his Instragram account over the weekend and has also confirmed that they will be returning very soon.
Gorillaz last album 'The Fall' was released back in the early half of 2011 and since then the band had been on hiatus, giving Albarn a chance to work on his solo material for last year's brilliant full-length 'Everyday Robots'.
Currently no official announcement has been made yet about their future plans, but you can check out some of Hewlett's new designs here.
